The job search tracker for Google Sheets

Reward your effort and watch your momentum grow.

Job searching asks for a huge amount of work and almost never tells you whether it's working. Unstuck gives you credit for every message, conversation and application on the day you do it, tells you which jobs deserve a referral first, and estimates your chance of an offer, so you can see your search moving even when your inbox is quiet.

One payment, no subscription. It lives in your own Google Drive.

If this sounds familiar

The job search is lonely, and most of your effort goes unseen

If you're in the middle of a search, you probably know the feeling. You send off dozens of applications, maybe hundreds, tailor the résumé, message people at companies you'd love to work for, and then you wait. Most of it disappears without a reply, and somehow you end up less motivated than when you started, despite all the effort you've put in.

Before long you start to question whether you're even doing the right things. Should you be sending more applications or fewer? Is it worth waiting a few days to find someone who can refer you? Are you applying to jobs you don't even want, because being picky feels like a luxury you can't afford? With no feedback coming back, the uncertainty and the lack of control can be harder to live with than the rejections themselves.

This matters more than it seems, because a search is a long game and the silence is exactly what makes people slow down. The people who come out the other side are usually the ones who keep putting in the right kind of effort week after week, long after the motivation of the first few days has worn off.

What Unstuck does

Unstuck was built to reward the process

Unstuck gives you a scoreboard for the part of the search you control. Every positive step you take, from a quick application to a referral, earns points the day you take it, and those points come to life as a weekly goal, a tree that grows in your garden, levels, badges and rewards you pick for yourself.

The points are weighted by research on how often each action leads to an offer, and the game around them is built on what psychology says keeps people going through long, uncertain efforts: progress you can see, rewards that come soon, and streaks that survive a bad week. The sheet also uses what you enter to recommend your next move for every job, apply now or find a referral first, and to estimate your chance of an offer, so you can feel the progress you're making instead of guessing at it.

And it's yours to shape. You set the weekly goal you're comfortable with, decide what your points buy, and can change any number in the game if your field works differently from the research.

Feel progress every day

Points land the moment you record an action, so a day of messages and follow-ups counts even when nobody writes back.

Know your next move

Every job gets a clear recommendation, and Home names the single action that would raise your odds most right now.

Make it fit your search

Your goal, your rewards and every number behind the points are editable, so the game matches your field and your pace.

A look inside

What you'll use every day

Unstuck is a set of tabs in Google Sheets, color coded by how often you need them. On a normal day you'll open four of them, and each one exists to answer a single question about your search. Screenshots use made-up example data, and you can click them to see them full size.

Home

Where do I stand?

Home is where you start each day. It shows your points this week against your goal, your streak and your level, along with your estimated chance of an offer and the single move that would raise it most right now, such as finding someone inside the company you want most.

Underneath sit your weekly targets, the people you owe a follow-up and badges that unlock as you hit milestones, so there's always something small and concrete to do next.

Home tab with chance of an offer, points this week and weekly targets
Jobs

Is this job worth my best effort?

Every job gets a score from 1 to 10 for how much you want it, and the sheet tells you what to do with it. The jobs you want most get a few days to find someone inside who can refer you, and the rest get a nudge to apply while the posting is still fresh, with a countdown either way.

Your score changes the advice and never your points, so a careful application to a job you rated 6 still counts, and being picky stops costing you anything.

Garden

Did this week count?

Each week grows a pixel tree from the points you earn. It's fully grown when you reach your goal and grows apples if you keep going, and on Monday it joins your forest while a new seedling starts, so after a month your garden is a record of your whole search.

Rest weeks protect your streak for the weeks that go sideways, because one bad week shouldn't erase three good ones.

People

A conversation does more for your odds than an application, so the people you reach out to earn points as the relationship grows, and Home reminds you before anyone goes cold.

Rewards

Your points are yours to spend on rewards you choose, from a coffee out to an afternoon off, kept small and frequent because rewards that come soon keep people going longer.

A Friday check-in

Five minutes at the end of each week to note what worked and what got in the way, so your search gets a little smarter every week.

There's more inside, including a guided setup, a place for portfolio projects, a list of dream companies, and the research behind every number, all of it editable to fit your search.

The research behind the points

Every point stands for a slice of an offer

Most trackers treat every application the same. Unstuck weights each action by how often it leads to an offer in published hiring data, so a point is worth about the same slice of an offer however you earn it, and the actions that matter most earn the most.

Take the two ends of the scale. In the data the sheet draws on, a quick application ends in an offer about 0.3% of the time, while an application with a referral ends in one about 5% of the time, so a referral earns about seventeen times the points. That's why the sheet will tell you to wait a few days and find someone inside before you apply to a job you really want, and why your estimated chance of an offer on Home climbs as your effort shifts toward the actions that count.

One referral vs one quick application

Chance of an offerPoints
Quick apply0.3%3
Applied with a referral5%50

The same thinking runs through the whole game, from conversations to interviews, and the game around the points draws on research into what keeps people going through long efforts: progress you can see, rewards that come soon and streaks that survive a bad week.

138 studiesfound that tracking progress toward a goal makes people more likely to reach it.Harkin and others, 2016

A few honest caveats. Much of the hiring data comes from tech companies, so every number in the sheet can be adjusted for your field. Weak studies are labeled as weak, and the chance of an offer is an estimate to guide your next move, never a promise.

The upgrade

Want your tracker to do some of the work for you?

A big part of any search is the work around the work: scrolling job boards every morning, reading postings to decide which ones are even worth your time, and staring at a blank message trying to figure out how to reach out. Tracker + AI hands that busywork to the AI subscription you already pay for, so more of your time goes into the conversations and applications that move your search forward.

  • Start each day with a shortlist. Every weekday morning your AI looks for new jobs that fit what you're after and scores them against the criteria you give it, so you open your tracker to the roles worth your attention and a note on why each one made the cut.
  • Outreach that sounds like you. You tell it how you like to reach out and what you'd never say, so when it helps you draft a message, it comes out much closer to what you'd actually write.
  • Update your tracker by talking to it. Tell your AI what happened in a sentence, like "I had coffee with someone from the team today," and it logs it for you.
  • A Friday review that tells you what to fix. It looks back at your week, spots where your search is stalling and suggests three priorities for the next one.

Your sheet stays the source of truth the whole time. Everything the AI does lands in your tracker, where you can see it and change it, and it never applies, sends anything or contacts anyone for you.

Who built it, and who it's for

Built by a job seeker, for the long middle of a search

Unstuck was built during a real job search by someone who was tired of measuring a week of hard work by replies that never came. It was used and tested on that search before anyone else could buy it, and every number in it was checked against published research.

A good fit if you

  • are deep in a search and losing steam through weeks of silence
  • want to be choosier about where your effort goes
  • like seeing progress, points and a little game to keep you going
  • have a Google account and do your search on a computer

Probably not for you if you

  • want a bot that applies to hundreds of jobs for you
  • only want a phone app
  • don't use Google Sheets and don't want to
  • want the AI features but not an AI subscription
Questions

Before you buy

Is this an app?

No. It's a Google Sheet you copy into your own Drive and keep for good, bought once with no subscription. It works best in a browser on a computer.

How are the points decided?

Each action earns points according to how often it leads to an offer in published hiring data, so a referral earns far more than a quick application and a conversation earns more than a cold message. The sheet shows every number and where it came from, and you can change any of them.

Can I change the points and the goal?

Yes. Your weekly goal, your weekly targets, the points for each action and the odds behind them are all editable, and your rewards are entirely up to you.

Is the chance of an offer a promise?

No. It's an estimate from published hiring data, there to show which actions tend to move your odds the most. Nobody can promise a job, and Unstuck doesn't.

Does it work outside tech?

The points and the game work in any field. Much of the hiring data behind the odds comes from tech companies, so you can change any number to fit your field.

Do I need AI to use it?

No. The $29 Tracker runs entirely by hand in a few minutes a day. Only Tracker + AI uses an assistant, and that needs your own paid AI plan.

Which AI works with Tracker + AI?

It was built and tested with Claude. Any assistant that can edit a Google Sheet, search the web and run a task on a schedule should work, but ChatGPT and Gemini have not been tested yet. One of the setup steps checks whether yours can do the job.

Will the AI apply to jobs or message people for me?

Never. It finds and scores jobs and can draft things for you, and you decide where to apply and send every message yourself.

Is it complicated to set up?

The Tracker takes about five minutes: make your copy, describe the job you want and record your first action. You open four tabs on a normal day, and a Start here tab walks you through the rest. Connecting the AI takes longer, which is what the setup call is for.

How do I get it after paying?

Your receipt includes a link that makes your own copy in Google Drive, along with a short getting-started guide. You need a Google account, which is free.

Can I upgrade from Tracker to Tracker + AI later?

Yes. Pay the difference and add the AI tabs to the sheet you're already using, so your data stays where it is.

What if it isn't right for me?

Email us within 14 days and tell us what didn't work. We read every message, use it to make Unstuck better, and handle refund requests case by case.

What happens on the setup call?

For $129, you share your screen on a 45-minute video call and type your own logins while you're guided through connecting your AI, filling in your search, running a test scan and scheduling the daily and weekly tasks. Before booking, you confirm your AI plan can run scheduled tasks, so the call can't fail for that reason.

Your inbox doesn't get to decide whether this week counted.
